Improve Your Skin With Lasers
Posted February 11, 2019 in Laser
Even with diligent skin care practices, it is challenging to maintain a youthful, glowing complexion. Unfortunately, time, genetics, sun damage, and lifestyle choices all affect the quality of your skin, and these are not always treatable through creams and facials. Fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, acne scarring, and uneven pigmentation can negatively affect your self-esteem and confidence in social and professional settings. If you are unsatisfied with the appearance and quality of your skin tone, all hope is not lost. Lasers are the next step in skincare and are available to revitalize dull and aged skin while transforming it into a complexion that you will be proud to show off. At Thompson Center for Plastic Surgery, we are pleased to offer two Sciton® laser treatments that are sure to smooth and revitalize your complexion.
Intense Pulsed Light
BBL™ Broadband Light uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to heat the upper layers of the skin. This light energy is absorbed by the surface where it stimulates the regeneration of your skin cells, which allows your skin to heal itself. This treatment is one of the most effective ways to treat sun-damaged skin such as pigmentation issues, fine lines, and loss of firmness. BBL™ Broadband Light is also useful in treating facial veins, freckles, rosacea, and facial scarring, and the Forever Clear BBL™ offers a multi-step revolutionary approach to addressing the unwanted signs of acne and acne scarring. BBL™ Broadband Light provides a non-surgical, safe, and comfortable way to reveal younger-looking and glowing skin.
Hybrid Fractional Laser
Before now, lasers were either considered to be ablative or non-ablative. Ablative lasers treated more severe signs of aging and sun damage than their non-ablative counterparts; however, the downtime of ablative lasers was much more significant. Now, there is a way to achieve the results of an ablative laser with a similar recovery period as the non-ablative alternative. The Halo™ laser by Sciton® is the first hybrid laser that can treat all of the usual signs of aging and sun damage. Halo™ offers a quick and comfortable treatment for patients looking for relief from fine lines, enlarged pores, uneven pigmentation, melasma, acne scarring, and sun damage.
How to Maintain Your Results
Results from both of these lasers will begin to show within days of the treatment. The skin treated with BBL™ Broadband Light will result in minor redness that will dissipate within a few hours, while the skin treated with Halo™ will appear red and flake off for a few days. The results of these treatments are progressive, and you will notice the continued benefits over the following weeks and months.
Depending on your treatment, and the intensity of that treatment, multiple sessions are recommended to reach your optimal result. Between and after those treatments, it is up to you to maintain your results. To keep your newly achieved youthful glow, be sure to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized, and always protect it from the sun. A broad-spectrum sunscreen should be used every day and reapplied when you are outdoors. Also, following a healthy diet will aid in the quality of your skin.
